CHAS accreditation is a certificate, which demonstrates regulatory compliance. CHAS is an assessment body, recognised particularly in the construction sector. Businesses are measured against 13 regulatory compliance areas. These 13 areas together form the ‘Common Assessment Standard’. CHAS accredited businesses have demonstrated that they have achieved the national standard in Health and Safety, Anti Bribery and Corruption, Modern Slavery, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion and Environmental and Sustainability Practice.
Benefits of CHAS Accreditation
By virtue of being accredited, it automatically demonstrates the business meets the regulatory standard. This means that when completing tenders, the complexity of providing evidence of compliance is unnecessary. The accreditation automatically proves the standard is achieved. Simply, completing tenders is so much easier. Referring to being accredited is all that is necessary. In addition, CHAS is universally recognised. Having accreditation by CHAS provides an advantage over non accredited competitors when bidding for work. Further for some contracting companies, accreditation by a regulatory body is obligatory. So, if a business is not accredited, that non accredited business is immediately excluded from bidding for work.
In addition, accreditation provides customers with the assurance that the supplier has been audited independently and has been found to be delivering services to the highest standards.
Health and Safety Becomes Instinctive
HR First works with many clients to achieve CHAS accreditation. Our support ensures tasks are planned and undertaken putting Health and Safety at the core. It becomes instinctive. Part of the the culture of the business. When Health and Safety becomes instinctive, bad practices are less likely to occur or are identified proactively and corrected quickly. Accidents are less likely. In such a culture, recognition of that achievement by accreditation is a natural next step.
At HR First we work with the client to understand the structures and disciplines that need to be in place. Our guidance ensures that our clients achieve legal compliance, employee safety and welfare and best practice. CHAS accreditation is therefore the natural next stage.
Our consultants support clients registering with CHAS and through to certification. We support clients throughout the year to ensure ongoing compliance, which then makes the annual CHAS re-certification process a relatively stress free process.
